The Republic of Fiji, often referred to as the crossroads of the Pacific is a hospitable land of islands, lagoons, lush forests and mountains, home to more than 770,000 people. The Fiji archipelago has over 300 islands scattered across 200,000 square miles of Ocean. There is tremendous variance in island size, with the two main islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, comprising 85% of the total land surface. The islands are primarily volcanic in origin with the high rugged terrain that typifies this type of formation. Other of the smaller are of coral or limestone origin.

Weather: Sunny climate ranging in the daytime from 78 to 85 degrees and in the evenings in the high 70's all year round. Water temperature ranges from 76 to 84 degrees.

Immigration: Visitors to Fiji must have a valid passport for more than 3 months from the date of entry, return or on-going air tickets and adequate funds for their support. Permits are granted at the airport on arrival for a stay of one month and may be extended for up to six months.

Health: Fiji is a healthy country, free from most tropical diseases. Inoculations will not be required unless a traveler is entering from a designated infected area.

Currency: National currency is the Fiji dollar. Overseas currency is accepted in the form of cash or travelers cheques. Most international credit cards are accepted at resorts and major shops.

Electricity: Fiji has three pin power outlets, the electric current is 240 volts AC 50 Hz.
